After an extensive nationwide search, Duke’s Pratt School of Engineering announces that Christy Bozic, an accomplished scholar and engineering management professional, has been named executive director of the Master of Engineering Management (MEM) Program, effective August 1.   

Dr. Bozic joins Duke from the University of Colorado, where she served as the Lockheed Martin Professor of Engineering Management and Faculty Director of the Engineering Management program. Her academic journey includes a PhD in Curriculum & Instruction from Purdue University, with research on innovative instructional methods in engineering and technology education. She also holds an MBA from Butler University and a BS in Industrial Engineering Technology & Supply Chain Management from Purdue.   

With a distinguished career spanning academia and industry, Dr. Bozic brings a wealth of experience to Duke. She has held significant roles at Purdue and has extensive experience in global business development with companies such as Federal Mogul, Kimball Electronics Group, and TDK Corporation. This diverse background allows her to blend academic rigor with practical industry insight. She is also a recognized authority in the field, holding certifications in Project Management (PMP) and Engineering Management (CPEM).  

Since joining the Boulder faculty in 2014, Dr. Bozic has been instrumental in advancing the Engineering Management Program, teaching courses in project management and engineering economics. Her leadership has helped Boulder become a leader in this rapidly evolving field. Her scholarly work includes publications on university/industry partnerships, innovation education, and workforce development, and she is an active member of professional associations such as ASEE, ASEM, and PMI.

Dr. Bozic’s understanding of the educational needs of industry stakeholders, combined with her extensive experience in academic leadership, has enabled her to spearhead several innovative programs, including industry partnerships and distance education. With Engineering Management, she is particularly interested in sustainability and the circular economy, which aligns with Duke’s climate initiatives and the Master of Engineering program in Climate and Sustainability Engineering within the Duke Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering.

She has been an innovative leader in the engineering management area, developing industry-university partnerships and integrating sustainability and the circular economy into curricular options for her students.”  

Dr. Bozic will also join the Institute for Enterprise Engineering (IEnE) leadership, comprising the Center for Enterprise Analytics & Systems Engineering, the Center for Engineering Management, and Graduate Student Programs & Services.
