Chair, Department of Biomedical Engineering

Duke seeks a world-class scholar to serve as chair of the Department of Biomedical Engineering following the conclusion of its current chair's term in June 2022. The successful candidate must have the presence and academic credibility to lead some of the most preeminent faculty in the field, as well as the creativity and vision to head a department that is fundamental to the strategic priorities of the school and university.

The successful candidate will be expected to leverage their leadership experience to ensure that Duke BME remains at the forefront of both groundbreaking research and educational pedagogy. In addition, the candidate must develop and teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, obtain competitive external funding, establish a vibrant research program, and contribute through service to the welfare of the department and the promotion of their discipline.

Executive Director of Communications and Marketing

Duke is seeking an Executive Director of Communications and Marketing to develop and implement communications and marketing strategies to advance the Pratt School of Engineering's education, research and service missions, national and global reputation, and aspirations in areas including student recruitment; diversity, equity, inclusion and community; development and alumni affairs; and industry, government and community relations.

The Executive Director leads a team responsible for communications and marketing across the school, four departments and associated institutes and centers. Areas of responsibility include multimedia content development, research communications, websites and social media, digital and print publications, media relations, internal communications, crisis communications, event promotion, advertising and brand management.

The position reports to the dean and is part of the school's senior leadership team. The Executive Director also maintains a close working relationship with the Duke's Vice President for Public Affairs and Government Relations/Chief Communications Officer and is part of the university's communications executive council.
