Gross Hall Ground Level
Project details: Creation of a new 7,600-square-foot student-focused, project-centered, collaborative space where students from Pratt and across Duke can build ideas from the ground up. The project is expected to include optics and electronics shops, work benches, light machining capability, a computer room, teaching and meeting spaces and dedicated project space.
Senior Associate Dean for Research George Truskey led a committee of faculty and students from across campus—along with architects from the firm Lord, Aeck, Sargent—to produce schematic designs and rationale for an interdisciplinary Innovation & Design Workspace. This modular and flexible space will immensely enrich the student experience by providing dedicated design and project space for class, co-curricular and entrepreneurial activities.
The Gross Hall Groun Level will focus on activities in Pratt, Information Initiative at Duke (iiD), energy, Innovation & Entrepreneurship (I&E) and Physics.
Start: Summer 2014
