Alumni-Student Mentorship

Connecting With the Next Generation of Duke Engineers

Mentorship matters—and not just for the mentees. Through our fast-growing mentoring network, hundreds of alumni have reconnected with campus through the eyes of current students, forming long-lasting connections while peering into the profession’s future.

Through the mentorship bond, students build professional skills and networks while getting a glimpse of where a Duke Engineering degree can take their career. It’s a rewarding experience for everyone and a simple way to give back to the school.

Being an alumni mentor—especially sharing the lessons of some of my successes, and my failures—has been incredibly lifegiving to me.

How It Works

Structured but Flexible

Monthly communication is recommended. Based on needs and resources, mutually establish your own cadence.

A One-Year Commitment

Mentors are paired with students after classes start in the fall and work together through the end of the spring semester.

Shared Interests

The focus is the student. We work to form effective pairs based on shared career interests.
