Meet Our New Faculty for 2015-2016

Meet faculty joining the Pratt School of Engineering during the 2015-2016 academic year

Joel CollierJoel Collier: Nudging Immunological Responses

Joel Collier will join the Department of Biomedical Engineering in the 2016 spring semester. With a long history of designing self-assembling synthetic peptides and proteins, Collier brings his foundation in basic science to Duke with hopes of making an impact in a clinical setting.

Olivier DelaireOlivier Delaire: Designing Thermoelectric Materials One Atom at a Time

Olivier Delaire will be Pratt's first faculty member with a joint appointment with Oak Ridge National Laboratory. While building bridges between the two institutions, Delaire will analyze how neutrons interact with a material on an atomic scale to learn about its atomic structures give rise to desirable properties.

Amanda RandlesAmanda Randles: Computing Complex Biological Systems

Amanda Randles is developing computer models of how blood, particles and cells travel through veins and arteries. She will work with Duke Health physicians to identify the best ways to treat patients with ailments like aneurysms, cancer and coronary artery disease on a case-by-case basis.

Xiling ShenXiling Shen: An Engineering Approach to Biomedical Challenges

Xiling Shen will join the Department of Biomedical Engineering in July 2015. An electrical circuit and computer systems expert by training, Shen applies his engineering background to understand the complex regulatory networks behind biological systems and diseases.
