Duke Engineering faculty and students garnered a wide array of awards and recognitions over the summer
Krish Chakrabarty (ECE) was appointed to DARPA's Microsystems Exploratory Council for a term of three years.
Earl Dowell (MEMS) was awarded the 2022 American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Thomas K. Caughey Dynamics Award.
Claudia Gunsch (CEE) was named a fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers Environmental & Water Resources Institute and elected to the board of directors of the Association of Environmental Engineering and Science Professors.
Tony Jun Huang (MEMS) was elected as a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts.
Robert Kielb received the International Symposium for Unsteady Aerodynamic, Aeroacoutics & Aeroelasticity of Turbomachines Award for Unwavering Support and Contributions."
Maiken Mikkelsen (ECE) was named an associate editor of the journal Optica.
David Mitzi (MEMS) received a Spiers Memorial Medal from the Royal Society of Chemistry.
Christine Payne (MEMS) was selected as an Ivy+ Provost Leadership Fellow.
Nimmi Ramanujam (BME) won the IEEE Biomedical Engineering Award.
Tatiana Segura (BME) joined the editorial board of Advanced Healthcare Materials.
Lisa Wu Wills (ECE) was accepted to attend the National Academy of Engineering's Grainger Foundation Frontiers of Engineering 2022 Symposium.
PhD Student Awards
Ian Eldridge-Allegra (MEMS) won a 2022-2023 NC Space Grant Graduate Research Fellowship.
Yongshin Kim (MEMS) won the Best Poster Award in the Emerging Inorganic Semiconductors for Solar Energy and Fuels Symposium at the 2022 Spring Meeting of the Materials Research Society.
Rachael Lau (CEE) won a Fulbright Scholarship to advance her research in geohazard modeling and mitigation in Nepal.
Xiang Li (ECE) was one of 10 applicants to have an abstract accepted at the John R. Cameron Early-Career Investigator Symposium at the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) Annual Meeting and Exhibition.
Luisa Piccolo Serafim (MEMS) was named to Aviation Week's 20 Twenties.
Ashley J. Williams (BME) won a Congressional Fellowship from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
Yi Xie (MEMS) won a silver award at the "Unconventional Semiconductors and Their Applications" section of the Gordon Research Conference.
