EGR 190: Introduction to Data & Decision Sciences at Duke

EGR 190 is a pillar of Duke Engineering's signature undergraduate experience

“Students see the applicability of the things that they’re learning in the world around them—not just in the examples we bring to them in class.”

Effectively choosing, using, and understanding data is crucial for success, both in further engineering studies and future employment. EGR 190: Introduction to Data & Decision Sciences, a pillar of Duke Engineering’s signature undergraduate experience, reimagines how students can be introduced to foundational data problems. Students in this course, which is co-taught by Electrical and Computer Engineering and Mathematics faculty members Stacy Tantum and Paul Bendich, take new approaches to statistical analysis through challenges that involve messy, real-world data sets.
