Jimmie Lenz, in conversation with Larry Carin

This session will examine the multiple ways in which data science is playing a role in the transformation brought on by financial technology (FinTech). The discussion will review financial innovation, financial products and services, and how these are being impacted by data science. We will also review perspectives on the tools a young person should have, if they wish to enter the word of FinTech. This session will be a facilitated discussion with Jimmie Lenz, with Larry Carin as the facilitator. Jimmie Lenz is an Executive in Residence in the Pratt School of Engineering. He has held a number of senior management roles within the finance community including leading an NYSE broker dealer with foreign and domestic operations, Chief Risk Officer and Chief Credit Officer at a top three broker dealer, and the Head of Predictive Analytics for one of the largest Wealth Management firms in the US. This session is part of the Duke+DataScience (+DS) program virtual learning experiences (vLEs). To learn more, please visit
