As a Duke graduate student, you will have access to the state-of-the-art Duke Student Wellness Center and its staff. The staff will be focused on helping you - cultivating your roots, strengthening self-care, proactively integrating wellness into your life, and empowering you to be healthier and happier.

Medical Insurance for Students
While you are a student at Duke, your health is important to us.
All students are required to maintain adequate medical insurance during their enrollment at Duke University. You must complete either the enrollment or waiver process within the open enrollment period.
Duke offers a Student Medical Insurance Plan (SMIP) designed to meet the needs of students who have no insurance or who have inadequate insurance coverage in the Durham, NC, area. If you are an international student holding an F1 or J1 visa, enrollment in the SMIP is mandatory.

Duke Vans provides free, on-demand transportation for students and employees from 5:00 pm - 6:45 am, when and where Duke Transit is not in service. Rides are available to and from most Duke facilities that are open during these hours. Find out how to request a Duke Van.
