Sam Stanton wins ASME Best Paper Award

Sam Stanton, a third year graduate student working with mechanical engineering Assistant Professor Brian Mann, won the Best Overall Student Paper award at the American Society for Mechanical Engineers Smart Materials, Adaptive Structures and Intelligent Systems conference held in Philadelphia, PA. His paper was selected out of 49 papers submitted to the competition. Sam’s research is focused on physical models for piezoelectric energy harvesters – in particular on how to capture the behavior commonly observed in piezoelectric energy harvesting experiments.
